National Seminar on Bio-Fuel

Chemistry department of C.V Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar organized an AICTE sponsored two days National Seminar. The objective of the seminar is to address the challenges in developing scientific and technological aspects to find the alternatives to fast depleting fossil fuel.

The Chairman C.V Raman group of institutions, Er. Sanjib Rout in his welcome address to the dignitaries, appraised all round development & dedication of the institution to-wards education and research. On the 1st day of the seminar, the Director (R&D) Indian Oil Corporation, Shri Anand Kumar, the Chief Guest of the seminar complemented the organization for taking initiative which leads to better understanding, promotion and popularization of bio-fuel. Large number of delegates including Professors from IIT, Delhi; NIT; OUAT; and scientists from ISRO, IPFT, etc have participated and discussed largely on the renewable energy. The on going AICTE Sponsored research promotion scheme on “Development of process technology to produce low cost bio diesel” carried out jointly by the department of Chemistry & Mechanical Engineering was also discussed.

The Vice-Chancellor, Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Professor Omkar Nath Mohanty inaugurated the R&D Center for Renewable Energy in the CVRCE campus on the 2nd day of the function including the plantation of Jatropha seedlings. The V.C. delivered a stimulating talk on renewable energy. The Chairman Mr. Rout presented mementos to the guests before the thanks ceremony. He was taken round the institute on a battery operated non-conventional vehicle.
